Tangent
As minimal as possible.
Tangent began with a challenge. I wanted to make a table with as little material waste and as few manufacturing operations as possible. I chose steel because it could be lasercut, bent and was suitable as both a structure and surface that could bear weight. I started out by plasma cutting a prototype, and then discovered that lasercutting yielded a much nicer edge quality.
I produced a batch of tables from mild steel, bent them in a milling vice and, since I liked the finish of raw steel, seasoned them with torched-on linseed oil.
